Summer Housing
**The Summer 2025 application is now live!**
Wake Washington housing is available for any continuously enrolled Wake Forest student who will be interning or working in the DC area over the summer. To be considered, you must complete the online application and consent to a student records check. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis as quickly as possible beginning in February. *Note: preference is given to those who apply as a group of four occupants staying for the full summer term, and each occupant must submit an application.
If your application is accepted, you will receive a sublease document to sign and return, and you will be given a deadline for return. Upon return of the signed sublease, you will receive a link to make your damage deposit and prepaid rent deposit payment via credit card. If housing is full at the time of your application, you will be added to a waitlist. Those waitlisted will be notified on a first-come first-served basis if housing becomes available, keeping in mind the preference for those applying in groups.
Rent in DC is high, and the demand for summer housing in DC is especially high as the city recovers from the pandemic and employees return to the office. Wake Washington does its best to offer rental rates that are reasonable and comparable to other housing options in the area, and the rent charged in the summer does not totally cover the cost of leasing the apartments during that time. The rental rates below are based on the number of beds across four, 2-bedroom apartments with two beds in each bedroom (four beds per apartment). Private rooms may only be considered if the student is willing to pay for two beds for the applicable session (Sessions I&II = $9,000; Session I only or Session II only = $5,000).
Housing Fees
Damage Deposit
A refundable damage deposit of $250 per session will be charged, in addition to Rent. This damage deposit will be refunded after the Session(s) if no damage (ordinary wear and tear excepted) has resulted from your occupancy. If you decide not to utilize our housing, the full damage deposit will be refunded.
Prepaid Rent Deposit
The prepaid rent deposit secures a bed in a 4-person apartment and counts as a partial payment of the total rent for the Session(s). If you notify Wake Washington staff in writing prior to the deadline for the applicable session listed below, you will receive a 50% refund of the prepaid rent deposit. After the applicable deadline, there will be no refunds of prepaid rent deposits in connection with a cancellation.
Session | Dates | Fee | Prepaid Rent Deposit | Damage Deposit | Notice Deadline for 50% Refund of Prepaid Rent Deposit |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Housing Session I | May 17, 2025 – June 28, 2025 | $2,500 | $1,250 | $250 | April 15, 2025 |
Housing Session II | June 29, 2025 – August 9, 2025 | $2,500 | $1,250 | $250 | May 1, 2025 |
Housing Session I & II | May 17, 2025 – August 9, 2025 | $4,500 | $2,250 | $250 | April 15, 2025 |
Subtenant’s prepaid rent deposit will be applied against the rent due for the Summer Session(s) for which the deposit secures the Subtenant a bed, and upon or in advance of arrival, the balance of the total rent due for the Session(s) is to be paid no later than May 1. No amount of rent, including any amount of the prepaid rent deposit, paid for the Session(s) is thereafter refundable to the Subtenant, regardless of the reason for the Subtenant’s vacating of the Premises or withdrawal from the Session(s).
